Ivoirienne de Noix de Cajou (known under the group’s brand “Cashew Coast”) sources and processes cashews locally in Côte d’Ivoire directly from smallholder cashew growers and exports directly to its clients in Europe without any trader. This capacity of mastering the full supply chain and knowing its farmers personally, allows us to trace all products from the farmer up to the consumer. In addition to paying the fair trade premium, they supported their +7000 farmers to become organic certified (EOS and NOP) and received an organic premium as well, all the while protecting their precious soils and paving the way for tomorrow’s farmer communities to ensure a harvest with a good yield for future generations in order to make a living out of ethical cashew production

Omniflora is a true entrepreneur in developing and promoting the “Fairtrade” of flowers from Africa into Europe. They not only innovated and established the brand for flowers in the supermarket segment, but also pioneered establishing it in the florist segment in Germany.

Taylors of Harrogate source Fairtrade certified coffee from Rwanda, Kenya and Ethiopia; and since 2019 they’ve bought over 690,000kg of Fairtrade coffee. Tea and coffee production are often one of the main sources of income for their origin countries, supporting thousands of livelihoods and communities. They rely heavily on the environment and suppliers at origin to be able to grow and produce products, so they want to protect them both as best they can.

Nature Pearls Private Limited has two Fairtrade organic certified projects with approx. 980 members and every agricultural practice, from transplanting to harvesting, is done by farmers & their families. There are two farmer’s federations working with Nature Pearls Pvt. Ltd in Nanpara & Jammu region. The Farmers’ Federation has decided on many socio-economic development projects like stitching Centers at many club levels, computer Centers at village club level, modern agricultural equipment, and good-quality seeds for better yield after deciding democratically with all the members.

Ceylbee is a main trader who introduces Fairtrade-certified Organic products (Coconut Products, Spices, and other Organic Products) to the Sri Lankan top-level market (Spar, Keells, Glomark) as a Fairtrade licensee and promoting, and building awareness of the customer by holding awareness sessions. (Exhibitions, trade fairs). Also, they are the one and only company that sells Fairtrade certified Organic Products through online platforms and social media campaigns in Sri Lanka. They are doing CSR works in Sri Lanka under the Guidance and support of Fairtrade NAPP.

Migros (and thus Delica as M Industry) has been a partner of the Max Havelaar Foundation since its inception in 1992 andhave contributed significantly to the success of the Fairtrade label. Longstanding, slowly & sustainably expanding cooperation with Fairtrade cooperatives – Honduras since 2016, Peru since 2019 and Brazil since 2021 – with regular visits to the cooperatives and producers. The program reaches in Honduras alone 392 farmer families, 1692 family members and 4861 farm workers, creating an economic value of more than 1.5 Mio. USD per harvest in coffee picking alone.

Green and Black’s (G&B’s AKA Mondelez International) have had a 30-year commitment with Fairtrade, dating back to the brand’s inception. In the last 6 years alone, G&B’s has generated £4.21m in premiums, a large proportion of which has benefited Latin America as we source our cocoa liquor from Peru and Dominican Republic. 62% of the Fairtrade Premium has been invested by co-operative to support their production and enabled the co-operatives in the supply chain to face the cost of implementing sustainable and organic agricultural practices.
Fairtrade Climate Leader Award
Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges for producers today. If your business is committed to innovating and generating impact in tackling the climate crisis, this may be the category for you. This category will explore business actions relating to raising awareness, biodiversity, taking a community-centered approach to environmental management, and/or taking a holistic approach to climate mitigation and adaptation while recognising the link between incomes and sustainable livelihoods.

On 28th & 29th of July 2022, Farmers on more than 100 villages planted a great number of 2318 saplings of more than 5 endemic species Coconut (Cocos nucifera), Cashew (Anacardium occidentale), Mango (Mangifera indica), Jamun/Java plum (Syzygium cumini) and Guava (Psidium guajava) were planted in Kolhapur districts through SPO farmers members. 2318 saplings have survived and many people are involved in tree planting and rearing work.

Nature Bio Foods uses Co2 pressure treatment to eliminate insects in the processing process in order to guarantee quality product while complying with organic food standards. For this Nature Bio Foods have installed Co2 recovery system and with the help of this more than 80% co2 is recovered and reused again. Without recovery system Co2 consumption per kg of Basmati rice was 60,3gram and it used to have power consumption per year ca 159150Kwh for vaporizing 159150 ton.

Coconut shells, paper waste, wood waste, dried fruit waste and all biomass are converted into heat energy for the drying of our fruit. Installation of photovoltaic solar panels for the harvesting of the heat from the sun for the production of electrical energy for drying their fruits (35% of the total energy required by the organization for its operations). Mango seeds in addition to the excess fruit waste produced during production processes are sent to their compost plant where compost is produced in large volumes to be used on their farms and given out to out-growers.

Journeys End Brands was the second farm to convert to solar power in 2014 in South Africa. They have 4 dams that produce water used to irrigate all vines, which are under drip irrigation, reducing water usage by 50% compared to sprinkler systems. Cover crops like wheat and lupin are used to provide soil stability, add more nutrients and nitrogen back into the soil and prevent evaporation.

Co-op has pioneered the Fairtrade movement in the UK retail market since the launch of the mark in 1994, championed by our passionate Co-op members who remain committed to Fairtrade. Co-op leads the UK retail market in our Core 7 Fairtrade ingredient approach. 100% of Co-op cocoa (including as an ingredient), tea, coffee, bananas, bagged sugar and African roses are Fairtrade. In 2021 Co-op launched its Climate Plan and launched its Climate Justice Campaign, calling on businesses to invest in a just transition within their supply chains and to lobby governments to deliver on climate finance.

Those taking the lead on new types of products, entering new demographics, and raising awareness of consuming and trading fairly to create more accessibility.

Equifruit’s innovation is that they have opened the market for Fairtrade-certified bananas in Canada with their unique approach to marketing. In 2021, they launched new branding targeting Millennials and Gen Z consumers. They also recognize that fair trade is a longstanding and complex model, so they make it as interesting as possible by piggybacking off of what is trending and popular to shed light on why fair pay for farmers and equitable trading relationships matter.

In order to increase impact, fairfood Freiburg GmbH redesigned their corporate identity to focus on fair trade. All of their products have the term fair in the title: fair cashews, fair mangoes, fair nut bolognese, etc. They also name the country of cultivation and tell who produced the product. Customers can use a QR code to see more information about the producers.

Nespresso, Fairtrade International, and Blue Marble Microinsurance collaborated to create an innovative solution. Through the use of satellite technology, this weather index insurance program provides farmers with an affordable and efficient solution. When the satellite technology detects that there has been too much or not enough rainfall for a phase, automated payouts are made directly to the registered coffee grower of the affected hectares. No notices of loss, formalities or claims processes are required, which means payments are quick.

Koolkompany provide on-going, pro bono UK Fairtrade education work as well as conduct Fairtrade Assembly/class session UK tours with workers and managers from our Fairtrade-licensed factories, in conjunction with the Scottish Fair Trade Forum, the Fairtrade Foundation and Fair Trade Wales. In terms of Fairtrade-licensed supply chain management, they go above and beyond the usual certification/audit requirements and engage at textiles worker level with their factories during each visit to India by interviewing the workers and encouraging them to speak about their working conditions, health and welfare. All of their factories are signed up to the unique Koolskools ethical trading pledge.
Fairtrade Living Incomes Leader Award
This award is designed to recognise those who have set up, funded, or been involved in living income projects or initiatives. This could include income diversification, paying a Living Income Reference Price, or a holistic package of interventions for farmers.

Mungania Tea Factory promote and empower the youth in their community through sporting activities by supporting local already established sports clubs and procuring sports equipments and uniforms.

Through their sales under Angelique’s finest brand of roasted coffee ,the women coffee farmers who provided the green coffee they roasted for the market in addition to Fairtrade Social Premium provided to the coffee cooperative get the extra premium called Angelique’s finest add, which they use in their associations development, in small projects like hand crafting and live stocking, paying the school fees for their children and the community based health insurance as well as helping the vulnerable persons (neighbors) in their local communities.

Together with Fairtrade Max Havelaar, they’ve implemented a living wage project for Fairtrade organic bananas from the Dominican Republic. Under the project, at the “Paso Robles” and “Quinta Pasadena” plantations in the north-east of the Dominican Republic Coop pays a bonus on top of the Fairtrade minimum price and the Fairtrade premium. With their subsidiary HALBA and Fairtrade Max Havelaar, they’ve also set up a direct supply chain for organic Fairtrade coffee from Honduras.

In 1973, Fairtrade Original took an important step by bringing the first Fairtrade coffee from Guatemala to the Netherlands. 50 years later they are still pioneering in coffee by being the first Dutch supermarket coffee brand to commit to Living Income. They support and work closely together with Fairtrade International’s new Living Income Reference Price studies.

ACPCU is a second-grade cooperative union with 26 cooperatives with 16,135 farmers and piloted the LIRP framework among 2 primary cooperative societies and this required a multistakeholder approach throughout the value chain players.
From the farmers in southwest Uganda to the consumers in Europe, they are creating a digitized, transparent, and fully traceable system to enhance fair value distribution amongst all chain players.

At DRWakefield, helping the coffee producers they work with achieve a living income is as much a part of their vision as anything else. Coffee farmers face new challenges each year because of extreme variables such as weather, market price, and cost of production. They see certification as an excellent way to circumvent these variables, which is why 40-50% of the coffee they source is certified. However, they also recognise the power of relationships in coffee to assist in income generation for coffee producers.

Mars, Fairtrade, and ECOOKIM have embarked on the Livelihood Ecosystem Advancement Program (LEAP), an aspirational initiative to elevate incomes and livelihoods of Ivorian cocoa farming households through three primary areas of work: access to finance, income diversification and cooperative strengthening. In so doing, the aim of the LEAP is to create a holistic and farmer owned development journey towards living incomes, that enables farming households to develop and grow their livelihoods, empowers and resources cooperatives to lead and drive change in their communities, and helps secure the long-term stability of cocoa production and sourcing in the country.
Fairtrade Living Wages Leader Award
This category seeks to acknowledge businesses driving forward meaningful change on wages, and those working towards closing the living wage gap. The category focuses on partners who are building partnerships with farms to support wage structures and may include those paying a wage differential amongst other interventions.

The Working Group was founded in 2020 and the retailers ALDI Nord and ALDI Süd, dm-drogerie markt, Kaufland and REWE Group have set the objective to promote living incomes and wages in their supply chain. The first project on living wages in the banana sector was kicked-off in the end of 2021. The project had a focus on Ecuador as a common sourcing country for all participating retailers in the past two years. This year the activities are expanded to Colombia and Costa Rica.

Most of their farm workers is receiving a decent living wage of up to 200% for some workers, with the lowest paid worker receiving 51.29% above minimum wage. The reason for the difference in the wage structure is due to longevity of working for the company. With this generous minimum wage, the company is retaining their workforce, as a result of which workers can learn on the job and be trained to become more productive over time.
Fairtrade Partner of the Year Award
This award recognises existing commitments, strong two-way relationships with producer groups and willingness to innovate and test new approaches in collaboration with Fairtrade.

In 2023 they are piloting the payment of Living Wage premiums to benefit workers on a Dominican Republic Fairtrade banana farm, as part of the work they do under the umbrella of the GIZ German Retailer Working Group on Living Incomes and Living Wages. Their project with cocoa cooperative ECAMOM in Côte d’Ivoire has been successfully running since 2020. Right now, ALDI Süd and Fairtrade Germany are in the process of extending it to further support and work together with the cooperative based on their priorities.

In Mexico, Equifruit’s partner COLIMAN built a Fairtrade community centre to create a long-term impact for the workers, their families, and the wider community — over 6000 people in total — the construction of the complex has been financed with Fairtrade Premium funds from the sales of Fairtrade organic bananas. It is currently 50% complete, with a 7-a-side soccer field, a multiple-use field, the auditorium, and various common spaces already in use. When completed, there will also be a cafeteria, a therapeutic pool, a soccer field, administrative offices, a picnic area, a parking area, a toy library, and multipurpose rooms.

Lemonaid & ChariTea are enjoyed at more than 50 of the hottest and most important festivals, such as the Roskilde Festival, the Berlinale or the Cannes Film Festival, as well as in the offices of Google, Amazon or Apple. Their drinks can be found in the small organic food store around the corner, as well as in the large supermarkets of Naturalia and Biocoop in France, Albert Heijn and Eko Plaza in the Netherlands, Coop and Migros in Switzerland or Edeka and Rewe in Germany. Lemonaid & ChariTea also make the evenings and vacations of many people that much more enjoyable – and fairer – every day in Michelin-starred restaurants as well as in the hotels of Mandarin Oriental, Accor Group, Mariott, Hilton and Hyatt.

Household Bio-Gas units (425), solar streetlights (+1000), energy efficient cooking systems (+2000), adoption of schools (+15), villages, providing safe & clean drinking water (+10000 beneficiaries), +100000 tree plantation were included in the projects to ensure a positive difference in farmers lives. There are numerous research paper published on the impacts and several case studies on the benefit and impact arise due to the project interventions.

Bio Foods (Private) Limited(BFL) established in 1993, is a certified organic and fair-trade company processing and exporting organic products such as green teas, black teas, spices, herbs, rice varieties, fruits, vegetables, coconut based and frozen herbal products. BFL is the world’s first fairtrade registered (under the Fairtrade Labeling Organization –(FLO) processor and exporter of organic spices and coconut-based Products. They have two strong partnerships with our producer organizations called SOFA ( with 1425 farmers and 1493 land extent and MOPA(with 1546 farmers with 7569 acres) and with MOPA whom won the best small Farmer organization in 2014 they have a dedicated partnership as the main certified Organic and Fairtrade raw material supply.

Coop has developed a Living Wage Living Income strategy that focuses on critical commodities that are typically also the focus of Fairtrade. Therefore Coop developed a Living Income Reference Price Roadmap with Fairtrade Max Havelaar. This cooperation resulted in the following project: Fairtrade International calculates supply chain specific LIRPs on behalf of Coop, so that Coop can close any price gaps in the future. Coop already pays higher prices in order to achieve LIRP.

M&S is proud to have enjoyed a long partnership with Fairtrade for almost two decades and, as one of the UK’s leading retail supporters of Fairtrade, we are really looking forward to celebrating our 20th anniversary together in 2024. Below is an overview of the ways in which they’ve have worked hard over the last year to build partnerships and support the producers at the heart of their Fairtrade products. In 2004, M&S became the first retailer to source only Fairtrade-certified coffee for their M&S Cafés and in 2006, they amplified their commitment by becoming the first retailer in the UK to convert 100% of both our tea and coffee to Fairtrade, across their stores and Cafes.

Sourcing Fairtrade sugar is unfortunately quite unusual for chocolate companies, so Divine’s relationship with Kasinthula Cane Growers Association is something Divine is very proud about. In the past 3 years (2020-2023) Divine has focussed on building household and organisational resilience by supporting income diversification, and building the organisational strength of a Women’s Action Group (WAG). 260 women have benefited as part of the WAG (representing 34% of Kasinthula’s membership). A maize mill was constructed, co-financed also by Fairtrade, to generate income for the WAG and the profits have been used to meet basic needs and support vulnerable community members with consumer items such as soap, flour and sugar.
